چکیده

Speciications for probabilistic programs often use the notion of almost always and deenitely sometime to capture the probabilistic information. But there are a number of instances (eg. network protocols) where probabilistic information needs to be explicitly speciied. In this paper we present PCTL , a probabilistic version of the branching time logic CTL , where the quantiiers for universality (almost always) and existence (deenitely sometime) are replaced by a single probabilistic quantiier. We argue that this logic is more general than previous logics. We show how to model-check probabilistic programs (given as markov chains) against speciications in PCTL. We also prove our algorithm correct and provide an analysis of its computational complexity.

Model Checking for a Probabilistic Branching

We consider concurrent probabilistic systems, based on probabilistic automata of Segala & Lynch 55], which allow non-deterministic choice between probability distributions. These systems can be decomposed into a collection of \computation trees" which arise by resolving the non-deterministic, but not probabilistic, choices. The presence of non-determinism means that certain liveness properties ...

XPL: An extended probabilistic logic for probabilistic transition systems

Generalized Probabilistic Logic (GPL) is a temporal logic, based on the modal mu-calculus, for specifying properties of reactive probabilistic systems. GPL is expressive enough that termination of Recursive Markov Chains (RMCs) can be cast as a model checking problem over GPL. In this paper, we explore XPL, an extension to GPL for expressing properties of transition systems with probabilistic a...

Model Checking Probabilistic Lossy Channel Systems

Lossy channel systems model a set of nite state processes interacting with each other over unbounded, lossy FIFO channels. This computational model is an abstraction of protocols in the lower layers of the network protocol hierarchy. In spite of its unbounded FIFO queues the Lossy channel system model is not turing-powerful. It has been shown that the reachability problem is decidable 1]. Howev...

Probabilistic design: The future of rock engineering

A brief background to the development of the rock engineering design process is given, showing that since the development of the science of mathematics, deterministic methods have been used to perform various calculations. The variability of rock properties and support characteristics have always been known. However, they were not explicitly used in design but compensated for by the use of a sa...

Efficiency of a multi-objective imperialist competitive algorithm: A bi-objective location-routing-inventory problem with probabilistic routes

An integrated model considers all parameters and elements of different deficiencies in one problem. This paper presents a new integrated model of a supply chain that simultaneously considers facility location, vehicle routing and inventory control problems as well as their interactions in one problem, called location-routing-inventory (LRI) problem. This model also considers stochastic demands ...
